Wine of the Month
Ray Station Merlot
When we first tasted this
it was a bit green around the edges but some time in the bottle
has really turned this wine around. There is plenty of fruit and
smoke on the nose with hints of earth, wild berries, crushed fruits
and toasty oak. The palate follows the nose with a nice mouthfeel,
full body, loads of dried fruits, berries, preserves and jammy fruit
and oak on the finish. Smooth and round with some nice subtle complexities
drifting past the finish.

Banfi Pinot Grigio
San Angelo
Banfi is well known for its
reds but this tuscan Pinot Grigio is a great bottle of wine. Rich
and textured you actually feel like you have something in the glass
which is nice. There is melon and canteloupe on the nose along with
hints of wax pear and apple. The palate is clean and zippy with
some nice fruit and acid balance. The finish is crisp and refreshing
leaving the palate clean and ready for more.

Bourbon of the Month
Buffalo Trace Distiller
Eagle Rare Single
Barrel
We chose this barrel
for its fantastic quality and flavors. This was barreled in 1993
so technichaly it is 13 years old but they usually bottle at 10
years so don't change the bottle tags. The nose is really aromatic
and floral, with earthy spice, wood chard, burnt caramel and creamed
peach. The palate is viscous and creamy with woody toast, caramel,
butterscotch, warm winter spice, sap and super smooth. The finish
slips down warm and refined with no noticable burn though after
all the years in the wood one would expect that. The barrel was
only a third full meaning much of the impurites had evaported along
with the angels share. Look
out soon for another barrel from Buffalo Trace.
