Clement
Rhum Agricole
This new line of rums from Martinique is fantastic. As Martinique
is a French colony all the rum there has to meet strict guidelines
to qualify for its Appelation. Only the purest fermented sugar cane
juice is used in the distillation, not molases, which gives the
rums a fuller but more fragrant and lively flavor. There are 100
hectares of sugar cane on the Clement estate from strains that have
proven thier quality and reliability through the years. Since 1887
the Clement family has passed down their methods and traditions
to suceeding generations and this heritage can be seen in every
bottle of Clement rum. We currently stock 3 styles:
Rhum Clement Premiere
Canne $28.99
This ultra smooth white rum
has a nose of fresh cane, soft smoke, wild sugar and tropical fruit
notes. The palate is rich and thick with bourbon and scotch hints
while maintaining a rum prescence. It's a very unique and exotic
rum that must be tasted to be understood, but once you try it you'll
love it. Rhum Clement only use first crush cane juice and distill
to 72 proof which allows more of the flavors to come through. Plus
the reduction down to 80 proof is a slow and mellow process allowing
better integration and less loss of flavors.
Rhum Clement Liqueur
Creole Shrubb $28.99
This vibrant orange rum based
liqueur is a bland of white rum and aged rum with an infusion of
bitter orange peels and typical Martinican creole spices.
"Creole Shrubb Clement
is a blend of rum, cane syrup and orange peel that stands out in
a crowded field of orange flavored spirits. Pale Amber in color,
Shrubb bursts with aromas and flavors of orange and sweet spices,
luscous but not unctuous or overbearing. A rum backbone keeps it
from being another orange spirt sweetner, as does its 40% abv."

Rhum
Clement V.S.O.P. Rum $34.99
One of the few rums to have
the V.S.O.P. distinction thanks to it AOC status and like all V.S.O.P.'s
it mus be aged for a least 5 years and in fact some of the rum is
7 years old. There is no color added, hence the old pale at the
end of V.S.O.P., so it is more a light amber color from natural
wood ageing. There are hints of orange peel, honey, cocoa and honeysuckle
on the nose. The long ageing shows on the finish with hints of vanilla
wood, spices and less sweetness than most. Lingering and rounded
with dried orange peel and cardamom.

can be drunk now but will just get better. Great wine at $34.99

venture with Cape giant KWV and is showing some promise. The wines
are cheap, full of fruit, well made have that classic South African
flavor in the reds and nice juicy whites. All value priced at $8.99
